Yunnan education chief meets Lao Consul General in Kunming

Zhou Rong, director of Yunnan provincial department of education, met with visiting Lao Consulate General Khamphone Vongsanti in Kunming on Nov 29.

Welcoming the Consulate General, Zhou Rong said Yunnan cooperated with Laos in education at different levels, yielding fruitful results.

2,535 Lao students studied in colleges and universities in Yunnan in 2015, and 183 Yunnan government scholarships were granted to Lao students.

Yunnan provincial department of education will strength Chinese language training for Lao students, and encourages Dali University to set up a Chinese training center in National University of Laos, Zhou added.

Khamphone thanked Yunnan for assisting Laos in education, health care, and human resources. 

Citing the diversity of the Chinese levels of Lao students, he hoped the Chinese training center in Laos can improve the language proficiency of Lao students.
