University president Peng Jinhui welcomed the consuls general at separate occasions and briefed progress made in educational internationalization by the university.
Peng said the university has the biggest school size among Yunnan higher education institutions, and its number of international students has increased from 304 in 2009 to 1,447 in 2016, ranking 84 in Chinese universities.
Peng hoped to boost educational, technological and industrial cooperation with the two countries.
The consuls general spoke highly of the university’s effort in talent training, scientific research and international education, and they hoped to deepen cooperation between the university and its counterparts in their countries.
The university has recruited 133 Cambodian students, and one named Kim Meng Hour received sound care and economic support when he suffered from acute renal failure in the university earlier in 2016.
Since 2010, a total of 65 Malaysian students studied or visited the university, which in turn sent 71 students to Malaysian universities for study or cultural exchanges, including University of Malaysia and University of Putra Malaysia.
