Muhammad Amir Khan, Senior Counselor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China, delivered a speech in Beijing on March 20 during a promotional session for the upcoming South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF).

Attendees included more than 100 representatives from well-known enterprises and business associations, as well as more than 30 domestic and foreign media representatives.

Muhammad Amir Khan noted that President Xi Jinping’s visionary Belt and Road Initiative provides an important platform for cooperation and exchanges between China and South Asia countries and Southeast Asia countries, which wins wide support from countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative.

The China-Pakistan economic corridor, initiated by Premier Li Keqiang during his visit to Pakistan in May 2013, is an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative. It was built to enable mutual communication and promote the joint development of both Pakistan and China, according to Muhammad Amir Khan’s speech.

He also said, “Pakistan will continuously support and actively attend the 2017 SSACEIF, which will provide a new platform for cooperation and exchanges between China and South Asia countries and Southeast Asia countries.”

The fair, co-sponsored by the China Chamber of International Commerce, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and ASEAN-China Center, will take place from June 12 to 18 in Kunming, Yunnan province. It will include 18 pavilions and 8,000 booths in an area that covers about 180,000 square meters.
