“The Maldives will set up a consulate in Kunming this year, which will be the first of its kind in China, " said Mohamed Faisal, Maldivian Ambassador to China.
Faisal said this in Beijing on March 20, when he was attending a promotional meeting of the 2017 South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF).
Faisal added that since he took office in China two years ago, he visited Kunming most frequently. “Yunnan is a very beautiful place, and I really like it."
Seven countries have had consular presence in Kunming as of now, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
