Yunnan, Italy to boost mutual exchanges

Yunnan hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Italian legislature for deeper friendship and common development, said Dao Linyin, vice chair of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan Provincial People's Congress.

Dao said this during a meeting with Vinicio Peluffo, chair of the Italian Parliament Association "Friends of China" in Kunming on July 2.

Dao said Yunnan aims to reduce poverty and build an all-round well-off society by 2020.

Dao added the province is adjacent to South and Southeast Asia, and plays a key role in helping carry out the Belt and Road Initiative.

Vinicio hoped that the two sides could further exchanges in protecting ethnic culture and promoting ethnic unity.

He said that ethnic groups in Yunnan live in harmony and prosper together.
