Exhibition center in Kunming carries new hope
"The building is very big and very beautiful. There are a lot of participants,” said Aleem, a young businessman from Pakistan who recently participated in the 2017 South and Southeast Asia Commodities Expo and Investment Fair. Aleem was marveling at the grand Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center.

By hosting the Fair, the exhibition enter became a stage for over 4000 enterprises from 86 countries and regions all over the world, conveying the dream of Yunnan reform and opening up and its construction as China's hub for South and Southeast Asia.
With a total investment of over 40 billion yuan, the center is oriented toward an important business platform of China facing South and Southeast Asia and connecting to the large market around the Indian Ocean. Externally, it will play the role of initiating economic, trade and cultural exchanges with South and Southeast Asia to better serve the “Belt and Road” purpose.
Internally, it will promote Yunnan’s faster integration into the Yangtze River Delta economic circle, the Pearl River Delta economic circle and Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone, strengthen the ties between Yunnan and the Bohai Rim economic circle, and boost the construction of the Yangtze River economic belt.
From the exhibition halls already in operation to the just completed tourism town, the journalist saw a large volume, wide layout and multi-level urban building complex with 2600 meters from north to south and 1000 meters from east to west, standing 14 meters above the ground.
Its bird’s eye-view is like a peacock spreading its tail. Every exhibition held here conveys Chinese opportunities and the charm of Yunnan to the world.
“We are extending the design of theme park, hotel and CBD plate and the construction will start soon,”said Chen Bo, head of the design department, Yunnan Chengtou Group project management center.
He disclosed that nearly 20 billion yuan has been invested to complete for the Kunming Dianchi Convention and Exhibition Center which is planned to be operating fully by 2020.
