International medical cooperation benefits the public

In 2014-16, the hospital received about 70 experts from the US, France, Germany, India, Singapore and more, carrying out exchange programs on hospital management & operation, academic exchanges, surgical operations and scientific research. 105 exchange visits have also been completed over the years.
“We learned from Singaporean hospitals and put up pictures of green plants on the walls, giving the hospital more vitality,” Chen Haibo introduced when he was asked about the recent changes.
The single-hole thoracoscopic radical resection for lung cancer patients introduced from Spain has cured many formerly inoperable patients. So far, more than 200 operations have been performed this surgery with faster recovery, compared with the conventional 3-hole thoracoscopic surgeries.
Based on the practice of French doctors, the hospital has succeeded in image-guided (especially the use of tapered CT imaging) radiotherapy, improving the accuracy of radiation therapies.
“In recent years, we have admitted many patients from Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Egypt and many other countries.” According to Li Wenhui, the hospital benefits international patients with advanced treatments.
A Nepali surgeon studied hepatocellular carcinoma and thyroid ablation surgeries in the hospital. Back home, he has already performed a few surgeries . This year, the hospital will also launch charity clinic in Laos and Myanmar. (Liu Yanqin)
