Rare herb spotted in Tengchong

Meconopsiswilsonii, a variety of the Meconopsisintegrifolia herb, was discovered in the area on July 24, according to the Tengchong Administration of the Mount Gaoligong National Nature Reserve.

The discovery was confirmed by experts after staff first found the suspected plants. Meconopsisintegrifolia is one of eight signature indigenous plants in Yunnan, and also a well-known ornamental plant.

It is an annual or perennial herb of the Papaveraceae family  with large and colorful flowers. The plant can grow to as high as two meters with multiply red flowers, each with a diameter of ten centimetres. (Zhu Jinlei& Bi Zheng)
