Ludian earthquake recovery: Three years on
Ludian county in Zhaotong, Yunnan province, has recovered well since it was hit by a 6.3-grade earthquake on Aug 3, 2014.
The earthquake caused 617 deaths and 3143 injuries. A total of 229,700 people had to be evacuated to other places. Statistics show that the economic loss was around 460.26 million yuan ($68.5 million).
Thanks to the constant effort made by the People's Government of Yunnan Province, Ludian has witnessed a great recovery in all areas.
Four hundred and fifty-seven of a total of 489 projects in the earthquake-stricken area have been completed. Resident conditions and infrastructures have surpassed the quality of that before the earthquake.
