Anning tennis town becoming China's “Roland Garros”
Recently, the General Administration of Sport of China released the first batch of sports and leisure characteristic town pilot projects, and Anning Wenquan International Tennis Town in Kunming was included.
Wenquan Tennis Town, 42 kilometers away from downtown Kunming, is named after its well-known hot springs and noted for its health resort. It is one of the most popular destinations for Kunming people on weekends.
Its tennis facilities are located at the heart of a hotel and residential complex. They are made up of 11 clay courts (seven outdoor and four indoor), with a Centre Court that has seating for 3,000 spectators.
For many tennis players and lovers, Anning is becoming known as "China's Roland Garros," the world’s foremost clay tournament and draws people from different countries.
Statistics show that Wenquan received over 1.1 million visits last year, with a total revenue of 32 million US dollars.
