Yunnan to build strong exhibition economy

Recently, Yunnan announced the 13th Five-year Development Plan Outline for Yunnan Provincial Exhibition Industry (hereinafter named the Outline). It was pointed out that efforts will be made to build Yunnan into an important exhibition venue with greater influence in China and a higher awareness in the world and to develop it into a strong province of exhibition economy in China. Kunming will be built into a regional convention and exhibition centre city toward South and Southeast Asia and an exhibition supporting industry gathering area.

It is stated in the Outline that China-South Asia Expo and Kunming Import and Export Fair, and the South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair are the two high-end core exhibitions to be focused on to promote regional communication and cooperation in politics, economics and culture. Key professional exhibitions including tourism expo, agricultural expo, tea expo, stone expo, cultural expo and automobile expo (new energy automobile) fair will be further focused and improved.

At the same time, some international leading and domestic first class professional exhibitions will be introduced and developed. Giving full play to the location advantage and resource advantage of Yunnan, the seven big border fairs such as China-Vietnam (Hekou/Laojie) Border Trade Fair will be improved in level and quality to make them import windows for China’s southwest region opening to the world.(Duan Xiaorui)
