Yunnan has made breakthroughs in excavation, research and international exchanges concerning the US Flying Tigers’ during the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1940s, according to the Yunnan Flying Tigers Research Institute.

Yunnan also set up the Yunnan Flying Tigers Museum, with a complete record of Flying Tigers published.

The Yunnan institutions tied with the American authorities and non-government organizations, including the Chenault Military Museum, American Flying Tigers Association and the US China World War II Heritage Foundation.

They also worked with the United States Embassy in China and the United States Consulate General in Chengdu to exhibit on Flying Tigers and Yunnan in six U.S. cities.

The Yunnan institute discovered the largest concentrations of the Flying Tigers remains in Chenggong area.

The institute helped 200 plus Flying Tigers find their loved ones, with a Flying Tiger primary school set up and the cemetery/monument discovered and renovated.

Yunnan pilots the Flying Tigers study in China, said Sun Guansheng, President of the Yunnan Flying Tigers Research Institute. Sun added he will do more for Sino-US friendship.
