Thailand health care products and services promoted in Kunming

The Thailand Health Care Products and Services Promotion sponsored by the International Trade Promotion Office of Thai Ministry of Commerce and the Commercial Section of Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kunming was recently held in Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

According to UN standards, 10% of the population aged 60 and older means entering an aging society. By the end of December 2016, the population of aged 60 and older in Kunming was 1.0607 million. With its advantages of unique ecology, climate and location, Kunming has attracted the attention of nursing institutions for the aged in Thailand.

Dr.Panuwat Panket, Deputy Director-General of the Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, said that now the number of Chinese tourists to Thailand has increased. Thailand has an edge in medical and healthcare. “Geographically, Kunming is close to Thailand. It is closer from Kunming to Thailand than to Beijing. Kunming and Thailand have similar climates and people’s living customs are the same. In the future, the potential of strengthening cooperation in old-age services will be enormous.” 

Mr. Pornpop Uampidhaya , the Royal Thai Consul General in Kunming, said that the huge market of China’s old-age care industry provides a good opportunity for Thai medical products and services. It is hoped that this activity will enable Kunming consumers and entrepreneurs to learn more about Thailand and to experience Thailand’s high-quality old-age care products and services.

Aunt Yang, 72-year-old, thinks that the Chinese traditionally prefer to stay at home for the aged, but in the nursing home, there will be special places for eating, drinking, singing and dancing and the old life will be more colorful. The nursing home + hospital model allows the elderly to reduce their travel. She hopes that every senior citizen can find a nursing home that is suitable for him or her.
