Five years on: Yunnan lifts 4.31 mln out of poverty

Yunnan Province has lifted 4.31 million rural residents out of poverty in the past five years, with the number of population below poverty line reduced to 3.73 million in 2016 from 8.04 million in 2012.

Since the 18 CPC National Congress, the poverty rate in rural Yunnan has dropped from 21.7 percent in 2012 to 10.1 in 2016, 5.9 percentage points higher than the national figure in the same period. 

The figures were recently released by China National Bureau of Statistics.
