Yunnan Resettlement media tour to happen in Diqing

The third leg of Yunnan Resettlement media tour will take place in northwest Yunnan's Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture on Oct. 11-12, with a press release held Tuesday afternoon in Shangri-la City.

The media tour aims to report the improved living conditions and of the resettlers in/around the hydro projects basins in Shangri-la City and the counties of Deqin and Weixi.

"Since 2011, Diqing Prefecture has invested 3.25 billion yuan in hydro projects resettlement, benefiting 145,000 local resettlers," said Ma Shiming, Director of Diqing Resettlement and Development Bureau at the release.

With a prospective hydro power reserve of around 20 million kilowatts, the prefecture has developed six hydro projects with a total installed capacity of 5.81million kilowatts.

In the following days, repoters with People's Daily Online, China Daily, Yunnan Daily, Yunnan Gateway and other Chinese media will visit the reservior areas in person.

The first two legs of Yunnan Resettlement media tour have taken Chinese repoters to prefectures of Chuxiong and Honghe.
