The city of Tonghua in Northeast China's Jilin province set two new world records for the largest snow painting and the longest ice bar Saturday.
The snow painting, on the surface of the frozen Hunjiang River, measures more than 2,220 square meters and was made using environmentally-friendly materials. The ice bar on the river bank measures more than 100 meters in length.
The snow painting and ice bar, both certified by Guinness World Records, beat the previous records set by Russia in 2014 and the United States in 2011, respectively.
Yao Yuan, deputy director of Tonghua's tourism development committee, said that the city hopes the two new world records will help boost local tourism.
"We want to attract the attention of international tourists," Yao said.
