Recently a piece of news about a policeman helping a leukemia boy from Yunnan went viral online, warming hearts of many internet users.

When receiving Xiaochuang’s letter in reply, the policeman Xiong Shiqiao from central China’s Hubei Province cried like a boy.

Xiaochuang is a boy from Kunming, capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province. This year, Xiaochuang is three years old. But unfortunately, he has suffered from leukemia since he was two years old.

Living in different cities more than 1,000 km apart, they did not know each other until Xiong saw a message in WeChat Moments. It was publicized by a charity fund in a bid to help children with leukemia fulfill dreams. In the post, Xiong read through many children’s wishes. And a boy’s wish to be a police man when he grows up and to have a toy gun impressed him the most. And this boy is Xiaochuang from a single-parent family.

As a policeman and also a three-year-old girl’s father, Xiong Shiqiao thought he could help the boy. After he was off duty on that day, Xiong went shopping and bought a toy gun and a toy car for Xiaochuang. Before mailing the toys, Xiong also wrote a letter to encourage the boy to be brave in overcoming the pains caused by the disease.

In the following days, Xiong never expected receiving a letter in reply. So when he heard from Xiaochuang on January 19, it was a big surprise for him and his eyes got blurred. “Thank you! Uncle Xiong, I really like the toys. With your encouragement, I will become stronger and follow the doctor’s advice. I hope I can get better. I am expecting to meet you in Hubei and express my thanks face to face. I also want to take a photo with you, and tell my friends that I have a uncle and a friend who is a policeman,” reading the letter, Xiong burst into tears.

(Xiongchuang’s letter was an oral one and written down by his mom.)
