The preparatory works for the 5th China-South Asia Expo, also the 25th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair, were carried out in a firm and orderly manner, said Yunnan governor Ruan Chengfa on April 10.

Ruan said this during a teleconference in Yunnan’s capital city of Kunming, which was broadcast live to sub-venues across the province. “At present, preparations for the expo have entered the sprint phase.”

To make this year’s expo a greater success, the governor made a four-point proposal at the meeting. First, adopt novel ideas, operation ways and conference modes, so as to make the expo professional, market-oriented, and full of smart and digital services.

Second, show Yunnan’s sincerity and opening up to the world by doing a good job in customs clearance, booth layout, reception and volunteering. Third, make the expo better serve Yunnan’s socio-economic development, while identifying the overseas commodities and services that could conduce mutual benefits with companies, industries and markets in the province.

The governor also called for enhancing the influence of the exhibition. The expo is intended to help Yunnan become China new pivot of opening up facing south and southeast Asia.
