Kunming Changshui International Airport has improved its passenger experience rapidly in recent years with cutting-edge technologies such as facial recognition.

The airport launched mobile phone check-in in 2014, making itself one of the earliest in China offering this kind of service. Now, passengers can check in via WeChat, they can get on board by scanning the QR code instead of using a traditional boarding pass. Moreover, facial recognition technology has been integrated into security checkpoints in the airport, helping to get passengers on their way more quickly. In the near future, Kunming Airport plans to use facial recognition in boarding gates, in a bid to enhance passenger services.

Other technologies are also applied to provide passengers with better service. The intelligent interactive passenger information service platform can remind passengers of the real-time status about their flights, the average queuing time of each security check channel, and the walking distance to the boarding gate.

To create a better flight experience for passengers with children, Kunming Airport has upgraded its mother-and-baby rooms. These rooms are now equipped with a variety of intelligent devices. In addition, professional nursery teachers are always ready to help young parents.
