Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, joined deliberation with deputies from Yunnan province at the second session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing on March 7.

Having listened to statements by the Yunnan deputies of Ruan Chengfa, Ma Zhengshan, Qi Jianxin, Guo Dajin and others, Wang Yang said Yunnan should resolutely fight against poverty, improve the quality in poverty alleviation, and ensure none is left behind on the road toward the moderately prosperous society in all respects.

Wang also hoped Yunnan could earnestly implement the Party's fundamental policies on ethnic affairs and religious affairs, strengthen support for the development of ethnic groups with smaller populations and the directly-entering-socialism ethnic groups, and strive to build itself into an example for ethnic harmony and progress.

Chen Hao, Party chief of Yunnan province and head of the delegation, chaired the meeting. Deputy heads --Ruan Chengfa, Zong Guoying, and He Duanqi-- joined the deliberation.
