“International Day” held to enhance friendship in Mekong youngsters
The launching ceremony of “International Day”, one of the series of the 2019 Lancang-Mekong Week, kicked off in Chenggong campus of Yunnan Minzu University on March 23.
As an important part of Lancang-Mekong Week, the event includes songs and dances, campus runs, an exhibition of works by students at Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute, and an outcome exhibition of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.
A collective activity, which aims to enhance exchanges and friendship between youngsters from Mekong countries, was initiated by Yunnan Minzu University that day. From March 23 to May 10, overseas students are encouraged to share their stories in Mekong countries.
500 plus students from 12 countries participated in the event, including those from the Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute under Yunnan Minzu University.
So far, 546 students have enrolled in the Lancang-Mekong International Vocational Institute, which provides them with quality professional training and language learning.
Of them, 109 are granted the “Chinese Scholarship for Overseas Students from Lancang-Mekong Countries”, which was set up by Yunnan Minzu University in 2018.
Officials from the consulates general of Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam in Kunming attended the event.
