Harvest festival and int’l fruit forum held in Fumin County
The 2019 China (Fumin) Farmers’ Harvest Festival, also First Summit Forum on Yunnan Fruit Industry, opened on September 23, the autumnal equinox day on Chinese lunar calendar, in central Yunnan's Fumin County.
Present at the festival opening were the Consul General of Thailand in Kunming Nitivadee Manitkul, the Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming Faizal Shani, the Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming Nguyen Trung Hieu, and representatives of the Cambodian, Lao, and Myanmar consulates in Kunming.
The guests were invited to join locals, sharing the harvest joy of through food tasting, dramas, speeches, festivities, and songs. Following the ceremony, the People's Government of Fumin County signed cooperation agreements with five agricultural institutes and companies.
Agricultural experts from China, ASEAN and South Asian also attended the event. Ten agricultural experts from Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh and others were hired as permanent consultants for the National Industrial Zone for Yunnan Plateau Fruits in Fumin.
At the First Summit Forum on Yunnan Fruit Industry that day, Chinese and overseas agricultural experts also delivered keynote speeches and discussions on fruit-industry development, agricultural industrialization, Yunnan fruit and ago-forestry, and the branding of Yunnan fruits.
Themed “70 years: Fragrant fruits enrich Yunnan farmers”, the 4-day summit forum features a professional forum on Yunnan fruits, an agro-tourism seminar and other activities. And the forum will yield consensus on development of Yunnan fruits, facilitate cross-border fruit trade, and contribute to upgrade of the Yunnan fruit industry.
