Int'l talent exchange conference brings world's talents to Yunnan
Over 500 experts, scholars and high-level talents from more than 20 countries and regions have come to attend a conference on international talent exchange which opened Monday in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
Themed "gather global talents, promote Yunnan's development," the event is being held in Kunming, capital of Yunnan and will last until December.
The conference will include project matchmaking meetings, forums, academic conferences, job fairs and talent training, covering fields of biotechnology, genetic engineering, digital economy, new energy and international cooperation in technology transfer.
Six cooperative projects, involving green food and healthcare, e-commerce, and equipment manufacturing, were signed on Monday.
Pietro Borsano, an academic from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University, said Yunnan is strategically located as China's gateway to Southeast Asia and is pushing hard on technology progress. "We are looking forward to establishing an innovation ecosystem between Thailand and Yunnan."
Li Malin, vice governor of Yunnan, urged at the opening ceremony to enhance talent introduction and protection to promote the high-quality economic and social development of the province.
"Yunnan has strived to build itself into a new highland for talent gathering," Li said.
A total of 272 overseas high-level talents and more than 240 talent-related projects have been introduced to Yunnan during the previous three international talent exchange conferences.
