Four regional medical centers to be constructed in Yunnan
A press conference concerning the latest information about novel coronavirus pneumonia in Yunnan was held yesterday on February 18.
The conference was hosted by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan province.
According to the Provincial Commission of Development and Reform, at least four new regional medical centers will be built up in west Yunnan, north Yunnan, south Yunnan as well as the Qujing area, respectively. Construction of the first center, for instance, is estimated to kick off in March.
The Commission explained at the conference that the purpose of constructing these medical centers is to optimize the distribution of medical resources within the province, help ameliorate the facilities and services in local hospitals, as well as making sure that every citizen can enjoy equal access to medical treatments.
With a total investment of 6.14 billion yuan, 24 separate infrastructure projects in relation to medical care and public health have been completed so far, and there are another 18 projects under planning or construction which the commission expects to be all finished by the end of this year.
