Over 2,000 sent to battle forest fire in China's Yunnan
Over 2,000 people have been sent to battle a fire that started Sunday in southwestern China's Yunnan Province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The fire started at around 4:50 p.m. Sunday in Shangri-La economic development zone in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Strong winds and steep slopes have increased difficulties for putting out the fire, according to the local publicity department.
The local authorities are continuing to send professional firefighters to the site. The work is still underway.
