Yunnan mangos exported to Russia for the first time

A China-Europe freight train carrying 15 tons fresh mangos produced in northwest Yunnan’s Huaping county entered Russia on July 21 from the Manzhouli land port, marking a breakthrough in the export of the Huaping mango. 

Huaping is a top Chinese mango producer with the national geographical indications. Previously, Huaping mango has been sold in the domestic market. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the domestic sales were affected to some extent, and local customs helped local mango farmers and companies tap the international market.

In April this year, Kunming Customs joined hands with the Manzhouli Customs near the China-Russia border. By opening a green passage and using the China-Europe freight train service, customs clearance for the mangos was facilitated.

"The Huaping mango is a quality fruit with rich nutritional, making it popular among Russian customers," said He Haicheng, general manager of the Dongchun agro-company, hoping more green foods from Yunnan could enter the overseas market.
