International trail closes in Shangri-La, NW Yunnan
The 2020 Shangri-La Hutiao Haba International Ultra Trail was closed on Sunday, October 18 in Shangri-La, the capital of Diqing prefecture in northwest Yunnan province.
As a two-day sport event held between October 17 and 18, it was participated by trail enthusiasts from multiple Chinese provinces like Guangdong, Sichuan, Liaoning and Xinjiang, as well the U.S. and Malaysia.
Hutiao Xia, also known as the Tiger leaping Gorge, is a world-class tourist magnet sitting some 100 kilometers away from Shangri-La in northwest Yunnan.
Surrounded by steep cliffs and breathtaking snow mountains nearby, it has been considered one of the most beautiful gorges across China and an ideal trail destination.
Racing down from mountain peaks to virgin forests, participants were allowed to enjoy various landscapes that they probably had never enjoyed in a single trail before.
Shangri-La is a land abundant in natural and cultural attractions. The local authorities, therefore, is determined to take this international trail as an opportunity to popularize local tourism and turn Shangri-La into a paradise for outdoor sports.
