With agro-companies joining hands with families, contract farming has been thriving in southwest Yunnan’s Zhenkang County. Sugarcanes, tobacco and oilseed rape are grown in the Chagou village near the China-Myanmar border.

Chagou sits 1,680 meters above the sea level. Thanks to local effort in poverty alleviation, ecological economy was developed to increase locals’ income. Agricultural and tourist authorities helped them achieve this.

By improving local facilities and digging out resources for cultural tourism, the village has seen an increasing number of visitors.
