Smart inspection equipment raises efficiency of Hekou Customs
Yunnan’s first customs smart inspection equipment has recently been put into use at the Hekou Land Port of Entry in southern Yunnan province.
It can automatically take the body temperature of drivers through infrared thermometers and also review their health declaration forms.
Over 400 truck drivers were inspected by this new equipment on March 12, the first day that it came into use.
According to a customs staff, the entire inspection process would only take about 10 seconds, and drivers can drive through the land port of entry directly without leaving their vehicles.
“What they need to do is to scan a health QR code, and that’s it,” says he.
“Before, I had to park the truck, walk to the customs service hall, and wait in a line to take temperature. It normally took me 7 or 8 minutes to go through the whole process,” a driver says.
“But now, thanks to this equipment, I don’t even need to get off my truck. This is very convenient indeed.”
At present, the number of vehicles that Hekou Land Port Entry can process have increased to 80 to 100 per hour, with an overall load carrying capacity that is four times than last year.
“The new equipment has genuinely improved our work efficiency,” says the customs staff.
