Yunnan sees foreign trade rise 56.2 pct in first 5 months
Yunnan province saw its foreign trade rise 56.2 percent year on year to 121.3 billion yuan (about 18.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the first five months of 2021, said local authorities.
Exports of the border province grew 119.6 percent to around 67.1 billion yuan during the period, while its imports increased to approximately 54.1 billion yuan, up 18.7 percent year on year, according to Kunming Customs.
ASEAN remains Yunnan's top trading partner. From January to May, the total trade between Yunnan and ASEAN was valued at 55.26 billion yuan, an increase of 41.6%.
Provincial trade with the US and Europe also grew fast. The trade volume with the US increased 14.4 times to reach 10.2 billion yuan, while that with the EU added up to 6.21 billion yuan, an increase of 158.2%.
