Online exhibition of 2021 SSACEIF opens today
The online exhibition of the 2021 South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) was launched in Kunming, Yunnan province on August 25.

The cloud trade fair invited in 27,929 exhibitors and 11,693 buyers. With the theme of “new opportunities for new development”, the fair will last till August 29.
At the launch ceremony, Yunnan vice-governor Qiu Jiang said that since its inception in 2017, the SSACEIF has spurred regional development and cooperation in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean Rim areas, manifesting the Belt and Road philosophy of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.
The vice-governor hoped the online event could serve as a smart and efficient platform for international commerce, bolstering efforts in Covid fight, economic recovery and industrial chains in the region.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and trade Do Thanh Hai, Laotian Ambassador to China Khamphao Ernthavanh and Acting Secretary-General of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zulfiqar Ali Butt spoke at the ceremony via videos, together with related officials with the Chinese ministries of commerce and foreign affairs.
The international dignitaries said given the joint fight against Covid pandemic, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members need to work even closer to speed up economic recovery. Hailing the significant of the online exhibition, they noted the smart fair will yield win-win results.
The in-Kunming consul generals and consuls from Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand attended the launch ceremony in person.
