Lijiang Baba, a traditional pancake made from wheat, is a unique food of the Naxi folks in west Yunnan province. With a long history and a big fame, it is crispy and golden brown after fried.

As it is easier to be kept from going bad, the pancake is adopted by caravans traveling on the Ancient Tea Horse Road.

Lijiang Baba is of two flavors. The sweet ones have sugar and brown sugar. And the salty ones may contain ham or topped with salt and pepper. You may eat it with Yak butter tea, soybean milk, or common milk, tea and coffee. Everybody likes it.

Lijiang Baba was listed as an intangible cultural heritage for protection in the city in 2013, and it was selected as a provincial heritage in 2017.
