Yunnan rail serves over 50 million passengers in 2021
The Yunnan railway network has serviced a total of 51.393 million passengers in the year 2021, an increase of 18.1% year on year.
The passenger load factor of the EMU trains on the Dali-Lincang railway, as well as the lines that link Kunming to Chuxiong, Dali and Lijiang, remained above 50% throughout the year. And peaks of passenger flow were seen during the May Day and National Day holidays.
Since the opening of the China-Laos railway in December last year, a total of 661,000 passengers have been sent on the Chinese section, and the daily passenger flow has increased from 19,000 to a maximum of 33,000.
Train stations of Kunming North and Mile were renovated in 2021, making it easier for passengers to book tickets or enter/exit.
Starting in July 2021, the Kunming-based railway stations and airport have coordinated better to service more travelers in Yunnan and the neighboring Guizhou and Guangxi.
