Yunnan imports 1.5 bln kWh from Myanmar
Yunnan International Company under China Southern Power Grid imported 1.5 billion kWh of hydropower from Myanmar in 2021, reducing CO2 emissions by 1.32 million tons.
Amid the Covid outbreaks last year, Myanmar’s electricity demand has declined sharply, and the Yunnan company adjusted its power purchase plan. It took measures in western Yunnan to smooth the channels for importing hydropower from Myanmar.
While boosting Myanmar's hydropower consumption, the power import also alleviated the power shortage in Yunnan, and promoted the energy cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region.
The Yunnan company said it holds a green electricity certificate (GEC) issued by the Kunming Electric Power Trading Center, 98.14% of its deals belonging to green energy.
