Yunnan reports 5 new Covid cases

Five confirmed COVID-19 cases were found in Yunnan province on March 8, said local health authority.

Of the infections, four were locally transmitted in the Yunnan cities of Kunming and Ruili, and one was imported from Myanmar, noted the provincial health commission in its daily briefing.

The two Kunming cases were found at a students’ dorm in Yunnan University of Arts, which has been under lockdown since 0:00 on March 8.

As of Tuesday, Yunnan had 227 close contacts under medical observation, and 1,415 were discharged from hospital after being cured. No death from COVID-19 has been reported so far.
