China standard of e-cigarettes to take effect
Chinese market regulator has approved the national standard for e-cigarettes that will become effective on Oct. 1. Thus, standard e-cigarettes will begin hitting the market.
As some e-cigarettes are of fruit, food and other flavors and are nicotine free, they have a strong appeal to minors. As a consequence, the standard clearly stipulates that the e-cigarettes shall not have flavors unlike that of tobacco.
The standard also requires that the atomized substances of e-cigarettes shall contain nicotine, which means nicotine-free ones shall not be marketed.
Insiders said that the new regulation aims to reduce the inducibility of e-cigarettes. And this will help protect juveniles, bringing a new start for the e-cigarette industry.
So far, 37 e-cigarette brands with at least 80 products have been approved to get into the Chinese market.
