Chinese e-blankets make a hit in Europe
The hashtag of “Chinese electric blankets making a hit in Europe" has been frequently searched on the internet these days, with other close-fitting heat products selling well in the continent.
Data from China Household Electrical Appliances Association suggested that although most domestic home appliance exports to Europe declined in 2022, electric heaters and blankets have seen a rebound.
From January to July, the export of electric heaters reached 490 million US dollars, while electric blankets mounted to 33.4 million US dollars, representing a 97% growth.
The 27 EU countries imported 1.29 million electric blankets from China in July, up by 150% over the previous month, said the General Administration of Customs of China.
Sales of heaters and foot warmers on AliExpress also increased rapidly in major European countries.
China is now the world's largest supplier of electric blankets, with its small household-appliance companies in Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hebei benefiting from the European market.
In addition to electric blankets, European consumers are urgently in need of more affordable ways to warm up nowadays, making the Chinese power-saving appliances an ideal option.
