Political Bureau stresses need to study, publicize, implement major decisions
A key Party meeting presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called on Tuesday for studying, publicizing and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress to translate them into real actions in the process of promoting socioeconomic development.
Participants in the first meeting of the Political Bureau of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the Party's top decision-making body, also deliberated on the regulations on strengthening and upholding the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee as well as detailed rules for the implementation of the eight-point decision on improving Party and government conduct.
It was pointed out at the meeting that studying, publicizing and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress is the primary political task for the whole Party and country, said a statement issued after the meeting.
The statement stressed the need to guide more officials and members of the public in studying the report delivered by Xi to the 20th CPC National Congress as well as the Party Constitution, so they can fully understand the new theories, new measures and new requirements proposed in the report as well as the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and establishing the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
The meeting's participants stressed the importance of fully understanding the analysis and judgment of the CPC Central Committee on the domestic and international situation and having a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges the country faces in its development.
They called for strengthening risk awareness and preparing for worst-case scenarios and complex situations.
Leading officials at various levels were urged to keep in mind the Party's founding mission, to be modest, prudent, hardworking, dutiful and pragmatic, and to maintain a fighting spirit in order to better fulfill their duties, the statement said.
The meeting's participants said that upholding and strengthening the centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee is a political responsibility of the entire Party, and first and foremost, it is the political responsibility of the central leadership.
Members of the Political Bureau should take the lead in rigorously abiding by the Party Constitution and other Party rules and codes and comprehensively implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and lead the whole Party and the Chinese people in building a modern socialist country in all respects and comprehensively advancing national rejuvenation through united efforts, the statement said.
The meeting's participants also highlighted improving the Party's conduct, saying that the eight-point decision on work conduct should be an "iron rule" to be strictly applied in the long term.
Consistent efforts should be made to fight against formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance and firmly break with privileged thinking and privileged behavior and push for the whole Party to carry out the guiding principles of the eight-point decision on improving work conduct, they said.
They also urged advancing the Party's self-reform and always maintaining close bonds with the people.
Members of the Political Bureau should take the lead in carrying on the Party's glorious traditions and fine work conduct, strictly abide by the eight-point decision and set an example for the entire Party membership in complying with Party discipline and rules as well as fulfilling responsibilities in terms of governing the Party in a rigorous manner, the meeting's participants said.
