Go Deep in Lijiang: Land of Wilderness turns into fairyland

Created by the famous singer and carpenter Qiao Xiaodao in northwest Yunnan’s Lijiang, the Land of Wilderness is a fairyland full of artistic atmosphere. Unlike the noisy city built out of concrete and steel, Land of Wilderness is a "spiritual clinic" forged by Qiao, using fairy tales to heal exhausted souls in life.

Born in northeast China’s Heilongjiang, he used to help his family to build houses and do some woodwork in his boyhood, which laid the foundation of being a carpenter. Later, Qiao became a singer and continued exploring music until he moved to Yunnan in 2013. Sparked by the local craftsmen, he decided to build a kingdom that appeared in his childhood dreams -- making houses by junks and scraps.

Covering an area of 40,000 square meters, Qiao and his team turned the wasteland into a tourism attraction. Inspired by his childhood imagination, Qiao created more than 100 works in peculiar shapes and styles, such as strange huts, cafe in trees, houses that can fly to the sky, and more. All these seemed to be absurd but wonderful.
