Light show staged ahead of Torch Festival

A light show that features a musical fountain was staged in central Yunnan’s Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture on August 9, on the eve of the annual Torch Festival, inviting in crowds of tourists and local residents.

Dubbed as the Oriental Carnival, the festival falls on the 24th day of the sixth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, and it is traditionally an occasion to pray for livestock prosperity and bumper harvest.

Over the years, the torch carnivals have invited in waves of tourists into Yunnan, contributing to local consumption.
