Rare parakeets spotted in Ruili

About 100 blossom-headed parakeets were recently photographed in a tree by a photographer in Ruili City, southwest Yunnan’s Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture.

Having disappeared for nearly a century, the blossom-headed parakeets under the national second-class protection are very rare in China. The species was once found in Guangdong Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, but was only distributed in Dehong Prefecture of Yunnan Province in the last 20 years.
