International media: China's economic recovery gains momentum
Many foreign media remain optimistic about China's economic recovery. Beijing and other Chinese cities have passed the peak of the epidemic since optimizing the epidemic prevention and control policies. Work and production are resuming rapidly; the consumer market has been significantly vitalized. Domestic and outbound flights, as well as cinema attendance, continue to rise.
According to Kenya's Daily Nation, China's optimal adjustment of epidemic prevention policy benefits the global economy. China, as the world's second-largest economy, is expected to play a crucial role in global economic stability and growth.
Bloomberg observed that the week before New Year's Day, subway passengers in Beijing, Chengdu and Wuhan increased by 40%-100% and traffic congestion increased by 150-240%, indicating that residents were returning to offline work, shopping and dining out.
The Associated Press reported that many foreign companies favored China to remove the quarantine for inbound travelers, viewing it as an essential step towards revitalizing business activities. "This has cleared the way back to normal business travel," said Hua Ganglin, chairman of the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in China.
The Financial Times quoted Citibank analysts when predicting that China's total retail sales of consumer goods will grow by 11% in 2023 to 50 trillion yuan, with most major cities coming through the peak of the epidemic by mid-January. Both investors and analysts anticipate "a brighter year ahead."
