The first session of the 13th Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference opened on Jan. 10 in Kunming, the provincial capital, which means Yunnan enters its annual local “Two Sessions” mode.
Lianghui or the “Two Sessions” at the national level are the annual plenary meetings of the National People’s Congress(NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC). As they are held almost at the same time and are both of great significance to the future development of China, they are called for short the“Two Sessions”.
Each year, before the national “Two Sessions”, local “Two Sessions” will be held at provincial level. In Yunnan, this year’s local “Two Sessions” are the first of its kind held after the 20th CPC National Congress. During the meetings, goals will be set for Yunnan’s future economic growth and social development and plans will be made.
