1st session on Indian Ocean studies held in Kunming
The Association for Indian Ocean Studies under the Chinese Association for South Asian Studies hosted its first annual meeting in Kunming, Yunnan province on June 3, inviting in over 200 Chinese scholars and thinkers.

Undertaken by the Research Institute for Indian Ocean Economies of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) and the Fudan-YUFE Ocean Strategic Research Institute, the session included a plenary meeting, a book launch event and a seminar.
According to the YUFE Research Institute for Indian Ocean Economies, the Indian Ocean Regional Development Report (2022) with a blue book cover explains the trends and developments of regional politics and security from 2021 to 2022, offering suggestions to those involving in regional trade, investment, tourism, cultural exchanges and others.

The seminar consisted of a major forum and three sub-forums, focusing on security situation in the Indian Ocean region and area studies regarding South Asia and Southeast Asia. The speakers also discussed on geopolitics, economy, social affairs, and diplomacy in the regions.
