Over 20,000 tons of fruits transported on China-Laos Railway
According to the China Railway Kunming Group Co.,Ltd., since the designated supervision site for imported fruits at the Mohan Railway Port in Yunnan was put into use in December 2022, the China-Laos Railway has transported a total of 23,000 tons of imported fruits, valued approximately 560 million yuan.
On the morning of June 1st, a fruit cold chain train carrying 740 tons of Thai durian and mangosteen arrived at the Kunming Wangjiaying West Container Terminal, marking the highest daily arrival of imported fruits at the terminal this year. The train carried a total of 36 fruit cold chain containers and completed the entire process of the China-Laos Railway in only 26 hours.
The peak season for the import of Southeast Asian fruits arrives now, with a large quantity of tropical fruits such as durian and mangosteen. The China-Laos Railway is experiencing an import peak of Southeast Asian fruits.
Wang Ninggang, a representative of a fruit company, told reporters that the company currently exports vegetables by rail and imports fruits from Southeast Asia. Through the Railway, the overall logistics time has been reduced by 2 days compared to the previous road transportation, and the logistics cost has decreased by about 20%.
From January to May this year, the China-Laos Railway transported over 20,000 tons of imported Southeast Asian tropical fruits. The peak season is expected to last till the end of June, with the volume of durian, mangosteen, longan, and other Southeast Asian tropical fruits expected to exceed 30,000 tons.
