20 Myanmar officials visited some modern farms in central Yunnan’s Yuanmou county on July 4-5, looking into local practices for poverty alleviation and green development.
The officials are on a week-long training program in Yunnan, and the Yuanmou trip took them to the Dayu water-saving irrigation company, the Wumao photovoltaic power station and a modern seed industrial park, all having contributed to the county’s poverty-alleviation drive in the past years.

Sponsored by Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office and Yunnan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the training program will also allow the Myanmar participating officials to visit central Yunnan’s Anning city for more agricultural exchanges and cooperation.
“Myanmar is rooted in agriculture, and I’ve visited some rural areas in Yunnan province. During the inspection, I found the development there is better than I expected, so I believe the program will allow Myanmar to learn from China in rural development,” said U Thaw Tar Aung, consul general of Myanmar in Kunming, at the program opening.
