Industrial event to open in Yunnan, gathering 2,000 businesses for 250 projects

The 2023 China Industrial Transfer and Development Matchmaking Activities (Yunnan) will be held in central Yunnan’s Kunming city from September 2 to 4. Now, preparations for the event is under way in order. What are the key points of this event?
Smoothing industrial supply chains
The event is co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. With the theme of "regional coordination and open development for a win-win future", it will facilitate the creation of the industrial chains and the supply chains, turning Yunnan into an industrial powerhouse.
Focusing on resource-based economy, industrial parks and port economy, the event will see 18 special meetings for industrial matchmaking.

Project matchmaking for 2,000 enterprises
The Yunnan businesses and industrial zones will be matched with some 2,000 peers from south-southeast China’s Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangsu and Shanghai for complementing advantages and win-win results.
More than 1,200 businesses from these provinces have signed up for the event, and they are involved in the industries of green food, bio-medicine, energy electronics, clean energy batteries, new materials, and more. Some of the businesses belong to Fortune 500 companies and Chinese top businesses.
254 projects will be signed during the event, with the signed projects to be implemented soon.

Pooling resources for opening-up
The Report to the 20th CPC National Congress said China will thoroughly implement the coordinated regional development strategy, improve the distribution of the major productive forces, and develop a regional economic layout and a territorial space system that complement each other’s strengths and promote high-quality development.
During a fact-finding trip to Yunnan in late April, Chinese Premier Li Qiang asked the provincial border regions to amplify their comparative strengths, upgrade their industrial gardens, synergize their policies, quicken steps to attract high-quality projects and lead the nation in opening-up.
A deep-seated industrial matchmaking platform to invite in investment, technology and intelligence, the matchmaking event has grown to be the most influential pilot platform for industrial transfer and cooperation in China since its inception in 2010.
As numerous leading enterprises have opened branches in Yunnan, the province is increasingly emerging as the Chinese hub for aluminum and photovoltaic industries, and its production capacity in new-energy batteries is growing rapidly.

Recently, Yunnan has stepped up construction of the infrastructure projects in industrial parks, improving their carrying capacity and focusing on the industrial parks of Mohan, Hekou and Ruili near the neighboring countries.
Using the China-Laos railway, the province is building national logistics hubs in the Yunnan border regions of Kunming/Mohan, Honghe and Dehong, while connecting the Lancang-Mekong express trains with the China-Europe freight trains and the Lancang-Mekong international cargo ships.
Yunnan has improved infrastructure, logistics and supporting services at the border gates. Since 2023, provincial efficiency in customs clearance has been a leader among Chinese provinces.
