With the theme of "Promoting Agribusiness and Investment in the Processed Food Sector", the 6th Lancang-Mekong Business Forum was held in Beijing from January 10 to 11, according to the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Over 100 representatives of government departments, research institutions, business associations and international organizations from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam attended the forum.

Since its initiation in 2018, the business forum has been held for five times in Nanning of China, Bangkok of Thailand, Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, Phnom Penh of Cambodia, and Vientiane of Laos.

This year’s forum aims to facilitate exchange and cooperation among agricultural enterprises of the six Lancang-Mekong countries. By providing a platform for sharing experiences, it will boost agricultural investment and trade development in the Lancang-Mekong sub-region, contributing to the economic development in the river basin.

Agriculture is one of the priorities for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Since its establishment in 2019, the Lancang-Mekong Agriculture Cooperation Center has been committed to policy coordination, mechanism connectivity, knowledge sharing and unimpeded trade in the sub-region's agriculture and rural areas, facilitating sub-regional agricultural cooperation.

During the forum, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center under Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Mekong Institute, focusing on capacity building, agricultural trade, personnel exchanges, and information sharing.
