YICC’s 1st birthday marked by river-family parties

The Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia (YICC) has celebrated its first anniversary with the “One River, One Family” International Cultural Exchange Series that lasted from May 30 to 31.
Inaugurated on May 31, 2022, the YICC aims to be a major platform to serve China’s opening-up to south and southeast Asia and a top storyteller for presenting Yunnan to the world. And the “One River, One Family” exchange series are highlighted by four parties: a grand opening, a Lancang-Mekong dialogue, a story-sharing session, and a night event.

The opening ceremony took place in central Yunnan's Kunming city on May 31.
As part of the “One River, One Family” International Cultural Exchange Series in a New Era, the opening is directed by Information Office of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office, and Yunnan Cyberspace Administration. It is hosted by Yunnan Daily Press Group and Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia.
The opening was attended by an array of dignitaries in the Lancang-Mekong river basin, including Zeng Yan, Standing Member of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee; Somsavat Lengsavad, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Laos; Krasae Chanawongse, Former Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sok Chanpheakdey, State Secretary of the Cambodian Ministry of Information and many more.
It saw the roll-out a diversity of projects for international communication, such as the “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life”cultural exchange, the multilingual “Explore Yunnan” micro films, the “Yunnan and Its Friendship Cities Worldwide” project, and several outdoor cultural exhibitions.
Bilateral and multi-lateral cooperative agreements on communication, culture and education were signed in succession at the opening, involving China International Communications Group, Yunnan International Communication Center for South and Southeast Asia, Lao Pasaxon Newspaper, Myanmar Northern Light Weekly, American International Daily News, Chinese provincial media groups, and universities in the Lancang-Mekong river basin.
