New plant species found in Jinping

Two brand new plant species of fern and begonia were recently discovered at the Fenshuiling/watershed nature reserve, south Yunnan’s Jinping county by Chinese conservationists and botanists.

The ear-shaped fern was spotted by reserve staff members and botanists with the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, while the rare begonia was noticed by the reserve staffers and some technicians with Guanggong Academy of Forestry.

In Chinese, the new plants have been named after the county Jinping and the reserve Fenshuiling respectively.
